Awards Night 2026

The annual ERSS Awards Ceremony was a memorable occasion as students, staff, parents and invited guests gathered to celebrate the many achievements of students both inside and outside the classroom. 

This year’s ceremony was made particularly special by the attendance of special guest Lee Grace, a Carrick-on-Suir native and player with Shamrock Rovers in the League of Ireland. Lee spoke warmly to students during the ceremony, sharing words of encouragement and reflecting on the importance of hard work, perseverance and making the most of opportunities. He also had the honour of presenting the many awards throughout the afternoon. Lee is pictured here with Ms. Barry (Deputy-Principal) Mr Tom Larkin (Chairperson of the Board of Management), Shane McCormack (Head of School Soccer) and Ms Gleeson (Principal).

The ceremony was expertly MC’d by Ms. Kane, who guided proceedings with warmth and professionalism, while the event itself was superbly coordinated by Ms. O’Neill. Throughout the ceremony, year heads, tutors, teachers and coaches presented a wide range of awards recognising students for their academic success, sporting accomplishments, leadership, commitment and contributions to school life. The event highlighted not only excellence in the classroom but also the many talents and achievements of students beyond school walls. 

Award Categories:

Edmund Rice Award The Edmund Rice Award recognises students who embody the values and spirit of ERSS through compassion, leadership, respect and service to others. These students make a meaningful contribution to our school community and lead by example each day. Congratulations to all recipients. 

Academic Excellence Our Academic Excellence Awards celebrate students who have demonstrated exceptional dedication, commitment and achievement in their studies. Their hard work and determination both inside and outside the classroom deserve recognition. Well done to all award winners. 

Student of the Year The Student of the Year Award recognises students who consistently make a positive impact on school life through their attitude, character, effort and contribution to the ERSS community. A very deserving recognition for outstanding students.

Overall Student of the Year Award Winners 2026

Extra Curricular The Extra Curricular Award celebrates students who bring energy, enthusiasm and talent to school life beyond the classroom. From clubs and music to community involvement and leadership, these students make ERSS a vibrant place to be. 

Sporting Achievement The Sporting Achievement Award recognises students who have excelled in sport while demonstrating commitment, teamwork, perseverance and school pride. We congratulate all students who have represented themselves and ERSS with distinction. 

The ceremony concluded with an address from Deputy Principal Ms Linda Barry, who spoke on behalf of herself and Principal Majella Gleeson. Ms Barry praised the students for their achievements and acknowledged the support and dedication of staff, families and the wider school community in helping students reach their potential. 

ERSS was also pleased to have representatives from the wider school community. Chairperson of the Board of Management, Tom Larkin, was in attendance, along with Parents’ Association Co-Chair Mary Kennedy, whose presence reflected the strong partnership between school and home. 

Members of the Parents’ Association also generously assisted with refreshments following the ceremony, helping to create a welcoming atmosphere and providing an opportunity for students, families and staff to gather and celebrate together. 

The annual ERSS Awards once again served as a reminder of the outstanding talent, commitment and community spirit that exists throughout the school, making it a fitting celebration of student achievement and success.
