A strong opening to DCMUN today as delegates listened to opening speeches from our distinguished guests, including Cork Lord Mayor Councillor Fergal Dennehy, Mr Pat McKelvy, Director of Schools with Cork ETB, and Ms Jennifer Cooney of WorldWise Global Schools. We were also honoured to hear from our keynote speaker, Mr Richard Zimmler, who engaged delegates with a thought-provoking address and Q&A session. The Deputy Ambassador of Poland to Ireland was also in attendance for today’s debate. Following the opening addresses, initial delegate speeches took place, with five of our own students confidently taking to the podium. Debate then moved into the first key issues of the conference, with thoughtful discussion on eugenics and geo-engineering. A strong start to DCMUN, showcasing diplomacy, critical thinking and public speaking throughout.
