TY Students Get into the Rhythm with Big Bang Drumming
Our Transition Year group recently took part in an energetic and uplifting Big Bang Drumming workshop—an experience filled with rhythm, teamwork, and plenty of laughter. Designed especially for secondary school students, the workshop encouraged creativity, self‑expression, and fun from start to finish.
Students began with a lively Shake Out and The Beat Goes On warm‑up, setting the tone for an engaging session. They were then introduced to different rhythms before getting hands-on with a variety of percussion instruments in the Play & Respond activity—where everyone had the chance to “let their drum speak.”
One of the highlights was The Rumble, an exciting exploration of musical dynamics that brought the whole group together in a powerful crescendo. Overall, the Big Bang Drumming experience was a fantastic way for TY students to build confidence, work as a team, and enjoy a truly memorable musical adventure. A huge thank you to Ricky, whose enthusiasm & encouragement made the workshop truly memorable. His ability to engage every student—no matter their musical background—helped create an unforgettable experience for our TY group.
