Delighted to announce that Edmund Rice Secondary School, Carrick-on-Suir was the winner of the GLOBE Ireland 'Outstanding Citizen Science Contribution' award at the Award Ceremony on May 5th.

“You were a consistent and prolific data collection team, submitting data and taking part in all 4 of the GLOBE Ireland campaigns, which is no small achievement! It is for this level of work and dedication that you received this award.

Congratulations, you should all be very proud of yourselves! “

The work included collecting data on air pollution, water quality and biodiversity of the River Lingaun,, rainfall (we had plenty of data ) and temperature and carbon capture by trees. The data collected is used by many agencies including NASA, EPA and UCC. The work was mainly carried out by TY students but also involved other year groups. It’s fantastic to recognize that what may seem like small data collections are actually being utilized on an international stage. Well done all.
