South East Munster Cup Finals

Updated: May 10

Our u14 and u16 soccer teams were in action today, competing in the South East Munster Cup Final at their respective age levels.

u14: ERSS 5 - 2 Thurles CBS

Up first was our u14, playing Thurles CBS. The first half was end to end with both teams playing very attacking football. Our first and second goal were scored by Tom Gahan, who played up front for us. We went in 2-1 up after a very entertaining first half.

Minutes into the second half Tom was taken down in the box and was awarded a penalty, unfortunately he came off the worst of the tackle and had to be substituted. Fionn Power took and scored the resulting penalty. At 3-1 we pushed on in attack, and quickly made it 4-1 with a headed goal from Jake Norris. Much of the second half was confident football from our lads, but a penalty to Thurles made it 4-2. Our final goal was created by some individual skill from Fionn Power to get up the pitch and crossed into Ethan Derby, who scored from a tap in.

Man of the match was awarded to Fionn Power. Fionn worked tirelessly through the game, scoring one and assisting three of our goal. The Cup presentation was made by Mr. Shane McCormack on behalf of the FAI to our team Captain Craig O'Donnell.

u14 Squad: Alex Stuart, Billy Murphy, Bobby Walsh, Cillian Long, Darragh Revutsky, Ethan Derby, Fionn Power, Jack Farrell, Jack Meany, Jake Norris, Joe Barry, Liam Walsh, Michael Keyes, Oran Norris, Ryan Prenderville, Tom Gahan, Ronan Connolly, Alex O'Dwyer, Craig O'Donnell, Ronan Knox, Ordhan Reade.

u16: ERSS 2 - 3 The High School, Clonmel

Our under 16 squad had a tough match up with a very strong High School team. The first half we kept things tight, Henry Kirby in goal making some great saves to keep it at 0-0 going in at half time. We were unlucky to concede two goals early in the second half, which made the game a lot more open. The High School took advantage of the space and got a third. A brilliant performance from our lads in the last 20 minutes to get two goals back through Harry Farrell and Archie Farrell, and we were pushing for an equaliser right to the end. Unfortunately they held out and we were narrowly beaten, final score 3-2.

u16 Squad: Ryan Jacob, Eoin Connolly, Jay O’Gorman, Conor Norris, Conor Quinn, Luke Raggett, Harry Farrell, Dylan Walsh, Oran Shortiss Day, Jamie Comerford, Zack Walsh, Blake Wheeler, Ryan Bartley, Glenn Bompoh, Archie Farrell, Callum Hartery, Ryan Talbot,

Cillian Walsh, Henry Kirby, Conor O’Meara, Danny Murphy, Tommy Bourke, Billy Daniels, Ben Buckley, Ethan Ryan, Ronan O’Shea, Gavin Coady
