TY Barista Course

Our Transition Year students recently took part in an exciting Barista Course delivered by the Dublin Barista School. Operating since 2011, the school’s expert trainers brought their commercial espresso machines—and a wealth of knowledge—directly to us, creating a hands‑on learning experience right in our own building. Throughout the workshop, students learned the practical skills behind crafting quality coffee, from pulling the perfect espresso shot to steaming milk with confidence. Just as importantly, they developed key soft skills such as communication, teamwork, managing multiple orders, and staying calm under pressure. For many, this was their first taste of the hospitality world, and the experience proved both empowering and enjoyable. Students left not only with a new craft, but with a boost in self‑belief and job‑ready skills that will serve them well in future part‑time roles. A fantastic day of learning, creativity, and plenty of coffee aromas filled the room—well done to all involved.
