Munster Junior Trophy Result

ERSS Carrick on Suir 4-3 Col. Mhuire Thurles

Our Under 17 team were in action today and kept our soccer teams good run going so far this season with a win over Thurles in very cold condition to secure our place in the quarter finals.

We started at lightning pace and took the lead in the first minute when Cody Phelan cooly slotted home Joao Vitor's cross.

Soon after we were two up, this time Joao was on target when he fired in from distance. Unfortunately we started to coast at this stage and Thurles scored 3 goals in close succession to leave us trailing at half time.

We dominated large parts of the game and finally drew level 15 minutes into the second half. Bobby Norris was played through by Darragh Reade and was upended in the box. Bobby took the resulting penalty and finished well into the corner of the net. We pushed on for the winner which finally get came with 15 minutes remaining when Sean Foley let fly from the edge of the box and the ball smashed into the roof of the net.

A hard fought victory that we will learn a lot from.

Well done to all involved, to Thurles for a great sporting game and thanks to Carrick United for the use of their facilities.
