Graduation 2023

On Thursday May 25th, our school celebrated the graduation of our Leaving Certificate class of 2023. For students, parents and teachers this day is an opportunity to look back on the journey of these young men, to celebrate their achievements and wish them well in their future endeavours.

The day began with some rehearsals but we set aside some time for the students and teachers to enjoy some lunch together. The food was kindly provided by the Parents Association and the boys were very appreciative of the hot meal from Roberto's.

“Success doesn’t rush. The greatest reward is the journey.”

Graduation Day does mark an end to the student's time in our school but it is more importantly a celebration of their journey. During the mass, Father Cahill imparted some wise words on how their futures will take many paths. We had some wonderful music that showcased the talents of our students. Singing from Kyle Dowley, music by Cormac Hennessy and Cormac Cummins. A special thank you to Mr Guilfoyle and Ms Kirwan for their dedication and efforts in preparing the boys. We heard from the 6th year Year Head Ms Mulcahy and Head Boy Aidan Wells on some of the stories from their time in school. Two very moving speeches that made us laugh and cry, but very eloquently highlighted the effect these students have had on the school. Finally we heard from our Principal Ms Gleeson, to wish our students well and commend them on their time in the school.

To mark the boys time with us, we presented each student with a Class photo and gift pen, as well as a Year Book to remember their time here and their classmates. Presentations were made by their Year Head Ms. Mulcahy.

After our Mass and Presentations we invited our Graduates and their families to join us for some refreshments. Many proud parents, siblings and grandparents were present and it was a wonderful opportunity for the whole school community to celebrate together, recalling fond memories in school.

Thank you to Keogh's bakery for providing the food, Ms O'Neill and Ms Shaw and all teachers that helped with refreshments and decorations on the day. A special thank you to Mrs Angela Comerford, who once again supplied the graduation cake. Thank you also to our 5th year students that helped on the day.

These events would not be possible without the help of all teachers and staff. Thank you to Ray, Nicola and Catherine who prepared the school, to Ms. Moriarty and the religion teachers for their mass prepartion and mass booklet, to Ms. Shostak our Art teacher for the backdrops and mass booklet cover, Ms Mansfield and Ms Wheatley for the beautiful flowers. A special thank you to Ms Gleeson and Ms Barry for their coordination of the event.

We hope you will enjoy looking back over some old photos from your time here in ERSS. Thank you to Ms Shaw for putting together this wonderful Powerpoint presentation of some images from your time here.
